Just like the good ol’ days – Multiple artists, one FUN (extended) evening!
Donald McCullough is…if not exactly the ‘brains’, then at least the ‘indomitable spirit’, behind the Local Music Showcase. He is a Bratt-based writer, musician, singer-songwriter, amateur philosopher, part-time existential handyman, fascinated by all-things-creative, lately an actor, and otherwise having a ball experiencing, and hopefully serving, this incredible, local music community. He’ll be playing a few of his own, slightly off-kilter, original tunes, and a selection of covers from some of his favorite bands/performers.
Bear Fox definitely has his own cool and laid back style, which he weaves into his vast repertoire of classic rock, blues, and Americana covers. It’s the kind of music you want to sip an ice cold beer to, on a pleasant spring evening – the reminder we all need, that summer is getting closer with every passing day!
Daniel Hales is the singer and songwriter for the eclectic rock band: The Frost Heaves & Hales. He’ll be playing an acoustic, solo set for us on this occasion. Daniel’s lyrics have frequently been singled out for praise: “Hales artfully plays with the duality of words, creating lyrics that are both smart and memorable” wrote Northeast Performer. The Daily Hampshire Gazette praised his songs for “lyrical details not often put in pop tunes… lines pop out as though in 3-D.” Impact Press called Daniel’s lyrics “nothing short of brilliant.” The Frost Heaves & Hales have released 5 albums and 2 EPs with The Frost Heaves.
Jim Stockwell is a singer. In fact, he takes a certain amount of pride in his lack of any desire to make his guitar playing a center of attention. Instead, he uses the instrument to provide a sort of ‘canvas’, to which he applies his emotive vocals to ‘paint’ the images he wants to share with his audience. He plays mostly cover tunes, but every now and then, if he’s feeling a little frisky, he may throw in an original. ‘Friskiness’ aside, however, his song choices are often surprising and evocative, and always extremely well-executed.
