SUMMARY:Local Music SHOW - Chelle & Paul!!!
DESCRIPTION:Husband and wife team\, Chelle and Paul\, lived in Austin\, TX for more than 20 years\, and were deeply involved in the music scene in what has come to be known as “the live music capital of the world”. Chelle’s crystal voice fronted the Chelle Murrey Band. She released the album\, “Uncomplicated” (available on Spotify\, Apple Music\, and Amazon\, among others)\, and enjoyed many years of gigging and popularity in Austin and its surrounding markets. Paul played bass and guitar with Chelle’s band\, as well as other rock outfits\, like Tiny Livestock (tinylivestock.com)\, and Common Thread (commonthreadmusic.com)\, which put out multiple albums\, and won the Austin area Battle of the Bands. \nThe couple moved to Brattleboro in August of last year\, and we’re incredibly lucky to have them here\, to help us grow the Brattleboro music scene. The energy they bring to performing is infectious\, and they’re coming out to put on a great show for you\, this Thursday\, at Bar 580\, in the Vermont Marketplace.

SUMMARY:Local Music SHOW - Ed Thanhouser!!!
DESCRIPTION:The leader of Portland\, Oregon’s longtime alt-folk outfit Ed & The Red Reds\, Ed has emerged from hibernation in Vermont. Ed’s songs are lovingly crafted chunks of modern Americana that weave between generations from Hank Williams to Wilco. With their carefully wrought lyricism\, wit and storytelling\, these are “red” songs that Ed describes as “the opposite of the blues\,” full of lust for meaning and connection amidst the anxieties of the modern world. Ed always brings incredible energy to his live performances. Don’t miss this opportunity to see him perform! Free streaming and info at redreds.com“

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple Artists!!!
DESCRIPTION:Greg Howe – plays an eclectic mix of alt-country\, folk\, blues\, rockabilly and more. In 2013 he released his ambitious debut CD Too Much of You. Greg has a deep appreciation for many styles and listens to a wide variety of music. This is evident in the music that he creates. Greg sings original compositions and cover material and accompanies himself on acoustic and electric guitar. \nAire Guitare Chris – Chris (Aire Guitare Chris) Guidera is a music grad\, composer and producer\, composer from New England and Spain. His guitar techniques drop jaws and his lyrics leave minds replaying them over and over\, pondering the points they present. A witty blend of progressive-blues-rock with elements of funk and flamenco make Aire Guitare Chris’ music stand out as new and different.

SUMMARY:An LMS Triple Header!!!
DESCRIPTION:Luis Lascari is a singer songwriter from South Texas\, who relocated to Vermont a couple years ago. Relying heavily on wit and storytelling\, his original music can reliably be classified as a form of punk-influenced folk. \nDylan Patrick Ward is a folk misfit from Vermont’s dirty south. Equal parts compassionate and irreverent\, his songs delve into the minds and lives of oddballs\, outcasts\, misfits and people on the brink. \nHe has a sharp sense of humor and an instinctive sympathy for the underdog\, and has been compared to great musical humorists like John Prine and Randy Newman\, as well as indie-rock/antifolk legends like the Mountain Goats and Paul Baribeau. \nSince arriving on the scene in 2021\, he’s become increasingly respected as a writer and performer\, and has shared the stage with beloved acts like Bill Callahan\, Peter Mulvey\, Jeffrey Lewis\, Guy Davis\, Michael Schneewais and others. \n“He’s funny. He’s also as serious as an ax handle.“ Peter Mulvey \nAlexis Pastuhov has been writing and performing original music for nearly 20 years. From Portland\, ME to Denver\, CO Pastuhov has shared his unique brand of indie-folk on stages large and small. Drawing on influences that range from Elliott Smith to Sam Cooke\, Pastuhov has independently released 3 full length albums\, 2 EPs\, as well as a 2017 album release under the moniker Bad Galaxy. All are worth your attention! \nAlex’s most recent album\, titled “New Mirror”\, has been his most successful to date\, with the song “Single and Young” gaining real traction on radio and streaming playlists. “Spot on”\, is the phrase I like to use to describe his performances\, as it equally applies to his songwriting\, his vocals\, and his guitar work. \nShow starts at 7pm\, doors open at 6:30. \nSeating is limited and first-come-first-serve\, so get there early! \nTickets will be available at the door – $15 – cash or venmo. \nThere will be snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments for sale. \nAlcoholic beverages are BYOB.

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple Artists!!!
DESCRIPTION:Bear Fox definitely has his own cool and laid back style\, which he weaves into to his vast repertoire of classic rock\, blues and Americana covers. It’s the kind of music you want to sip an ice-cold beer to\, on a warm evening – the reminder we all need\, that spring is here\, and summer is just around the corner. \nJim Stockwell is a singer. In fact\, he takes a certain amount of pride in his lack of any desire to make his guitar playing a center of attention. Instead\, he uses the instrument to provide a sort of ‘canvas’\, to which he applies his emotive vocals to ‘paint’ the images he wants to share with his audience. He plays mostly cover tunes\, but every now and then\, if he’s feeling a little frisky\, he may throw in an original. ‘Friskiness’ aside\, however\, his song choices are often surprising and evocative\, and always extremely well-executed. \nCraig Cornett has entertained audiences all along the Front Range of Colorado for 35 years performing both solo shows and as the front man for bands including Craig Cornett and The Phast & Wreckless!\, The Outlets and The Roswell Incident. His original songs can best be classified as “Americana” – folk\, folk-rock\, country\, blues\, rock and roll\, and beyond. In addition to his extensive list of originals\, Craig’s repertoire includes an impressive catalog of covers from artists including James Taylor\, Bob Dylan\, John Prine\, Cat Stevens\, Elton John\, Jackson Browne\, Joni Mitchell\, Paul Simon\, the Beatles\, the Kinks\, and more.

SUMMARY:Local Music SHOW - Sasha KA!!!
DESCRIPTION:This is gonna be a (yet another) good one! \nMusic has been the nexus of Sasha’s life. Growing up in the rustic beauty of Western Mass\, the son of a folk singer and political activist\, Sasha’s childhood was steeped in acoustic guitars\, protests\, and tall trees. Sasha started playing clarinet in 2nd grade and soon he was holding down the drums for his band’s debut at Northampton’s JFK Middle School All School Party. \nSasha attended Oberlin College where he majored in Music Theory. Upon graduating\, Sasha served two years as the music teacher\, band director\, and choir director for the New Hingham Elementary School in Chesterfield\, MA. \nIn 2014\, Sasha moved to Austin to pursue a MM in Music Education at the University of Texas at Austin. While in Austin\, Sasha formed the indie-folk group American Dreamer (featuring his wife Courtney on cello). American Dreamer is represented by the Texas Commission on the Arts and was a 2021 Sonic Guild grant recipient. The band has performed at the Old Settler’s Music Festival\, Kerrville Folk Festival\, Fischer Fest\, and been featured on KUTX and Sun Radio. \nIn 2017\, Sasha signed a publishing deal with Victory Records/Another Victory Publishing. His music has been featured in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint and in a promo spot for Food Basics. Sasha’s 2020 debut album Family received praise from Americana Highways\, Austin 360\, The Bluegrass Situation\, KUTX\, Elmore Magazine\, and No Depression. \nIn 2022\, Sasha returned to Western Mass to be close to family and start the music program at Rise Preparatory Academy in Springfield. In New England\, Sasha has been featured in the Daily Hampshire Gazette\, Greenfield Recorder\, and Mass Live and performed at the Green River Festival\, Back Porch Festival\, Sunflower Festival\, Lenox Loves Music\, Summer On Strong\, and countless clubs\, breweries\, and wineries. \n“With a rolling beat\, Sasha K.A will ease you in and surround you with remorseful\, \nyet somehow healing\, vibes.” —Americana Highways

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple Artists!!!
DESCRIPTION:Yes\, of COURSE\, we’re having a show this week!.. I’ve just been (too) slow getting it posted. \nRalph Carson – Ralph hails from a little ways south\, and he’ll be charming us with his baritone vocals and clever finger-style guitar\, playing a mix of originals and country-fied covers! \nTemple Mountain – After a five-year hiatus\, marked by self-discovery and a journey through the vibrant music scenes of NYC and Austin\, Texas\, Temple Mountain found solace in the tranquil mountains of Monadnock\, where he wrote and perfected the album\, ‘Schema’. This new work is not just a musical comeback; it’s a transformative exploration of the artist’s psyche and a testament to the enduring power of creative expression. \nDavid Cohen – David will be rockin’ a wide variety of cleverly-arranged\, instrumental covers on his very cool\, resonator guitar.

His music can be found on Bandcamp and Spotify under the name “John Mac and the Moraggots.” His influences include The Beatles\, Elliot Smith\, the Wood Brothers and Wes Montgomery. \nThe Frost Heaves & HaLeS\n…are joining us to celebrate the release of their NEW EP\, \n“Welcome to My Haunted Heart”\nThey have been crafting confections you eat with your ears ever since erupting from the wilds of Western Massachusetts in 2005. \nThe band’s songbook includes some 100 original tunes and more than three dozen covers — many of them written or selected for special occasions like movie screenings and tribute nights. \nThe Heaves have opened for national acts like Cotton Jones\, the High Dials\, and Mean Creek. Notable events and venues where the group has performed include the Green River\, Upper Valley\, and Hilltown music festivals\, the Franklin County Fair\, Iron Horse Music Hall\, and One Longfellow Square in Portland\, Maine. They’ve also served as the house band for Amherst Live. \nDonald McCullough\n…is the founder and guardian of the Local Music Showcase\, and a singer/songwriter-type himself. So every once in a while he gives himself a slot and bashes out a few tunes. He’ll play a mix of ‘hidden gem’ covers\, and his own introspective originals.

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple Artists!!!
DESCRIPTION:Every other week\, the Local Music Showcase brings you a triple-bill\, featuring a sampling of some of the area’s most clever and creative artists. This time\, you’ll get to check out the work of Bob Havens\, Josh Allen\, and LJ Lascari. For more information… \nBob Havens – One of the more seriously-schooled musicians we have in the area\, Bob is a regular on the open-mic circuit here in Bratt. Playing covers ranging from rock\, to Americana\, to country\, and hybrids of all-of-the-above – classics all – Bob strums the guitar to create a solid and steady backing for his well-trained voice. His set is guaranteed to surprise and please. \nJosh Allen – got his start as a singer/songwriter\, strumming an acoustic guitar. He spent much of the last two decades living and playing around Austin\, TX\, with his Whisky Brothers Band. He is Brattleboro’s most recent transplant from that very musical city\, having made the move in just the last couple months. His influences include Mississippi John Hurt\, Townes Van Zandt\, Bob Dylan\, and Tom Waits\, and his music – half poetry\, and half blues – is gritty and soulful. \nLJ Lascari – is a singer songwriter from South Texas\, who relocated to Vermont a couple years ago. Relying heavily on wit and storytelling\, his original music can reliably be classified as a form of punk-influenced folk.

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple Artists!!!
DESCRIPTION:Laura Lockie was scheduled to play a showcase not too long ago\, but had to postpone\, due to illness. We’re happy to have rescheduled her! Laura recently moved to Brattleboro from Atlanta\, Georgia\, where she regularly played jams\, open mics and occasional gigs with other musicians\, and as a solo artist. She has recorded a CD of mostly original material with guitarist Charles King and has appeared in film and television as background actor and singer. Her set includes a mix of covers from different eras and genres and original material in the American singer/songwriter tradition. \nBenjamin Jayne’s music has been compared to bands like The National\, Nick Drake\, and Beck\, and his baritone vocals have been compared to Leonard Cohen. His latest record\, “Broken”\, reveals an entirely new vocal range. The music tends to be on the darker side\, melancholic and reflective and would typically be considered folk rock. Though\, he uses interesting electronic elements and sometimes gets a little too heavy to be called folk. \nOH DAD is the alias of a sad boi from Springfield\, VT. The type of music for rainy days and riding your moped into the sunset. A little punk\, a little folk\, but not both. Heavily hip hop inspired\, but you’d never know. Cover your ears or mouth\, you decide.

SUMMARY:Mid-Holiday Concert!
DESCRIPTION:To purchase tickets in advance\, scroll down and scan the Venmo QR Code… \nPicture the following: Christmas is a mere memory. New Year’s Eve is still a little ways away. It’s cold outside. Everybody’s going a little stir-crazy with a combination of gluttonous consumption of holiday delectables\, sugar\, and alcohol\, vacation-related inactivity\, and the impending dread of having to return to work and ‘normal’ life in the encroaching future. What’re you gonna do?! \nWe have a remedy! A universal remedy… \nAn Evening of Great Music and Good Friends.\nDylan Patrick Ward\n“He’s funny. He’s also as serious as an ax handle.” – Peter Mulvey \nDylan Patrick Ward is a folk misfit from Vermont’s dirty south. \nIan Galipeau\nIan Galipeau is an indie-rock songwriter for hopeful cynics. He dwells in his craft to an obsessive degree\, weaving empathetic storytelling and careful wordplay into thought-provoking\, nuanced songs. His lyrics are where his obsession lies – he is not an artist who can just write a simple love song\, or a breakup song. He’s compelled (for better or worse) to use songs to explore something out-of-the-ordinary. Sometimes it’s a meditation on writers block\, or the nostalgia of parenthood\, or the perspective of a Ray Bradbury character… but there’s always some fragment of the unexpected. Musically he leans toward indie-rock\, drawing comparisons to Hozier and Ben Harper. Through the course of a set\, you’ll also hear strands of retro-pop and Americana that will keep you on your toes. \nIan is based in Keene\, NH. He’s been performing around New England since 2010\, and has shared the stage with the likes of Arc Iris\, Dietrich Strauss\, and Ian Fitzgerald. His discography includes two sister-EPs\, titled Raze/Raise\, released in March of 2018\, followed by a full-length album\, titled\,  Like We Were Never Here At All\, in September of 2022. This year has seen the release of 3 singles\, plus a 3-song EP in October\, born out of a ‘song-a-day’ writing challenge that Ian embarked on during the month of September. \nTickets\nTickets are $15 per person\, general admission. Scan the QR code below\, to reserve your place(s). Seating is limited\, so don’t delay! Subject to availability\, tickets will be available at the door. If you are unable to use venmo\, please contact us at LMSBratt@gmail.com or 802-380-3101 to make other arrangements to pay. \nThe show will be from 7 to 9pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. \nSome snacks\, treats\, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale during the show. Alcoholic beverages are BYOB. Please drink\, drive\, and ‘audience’ responsibly and respectfully.

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple AUSTIN Artists!!!
DESCRIPTION:Austin\, TX bills itself as the “Live Music Capital of the World”. Every week\, I’m meeting more local musicians\, as I wander around\, out on ‘the scene’. I’ve noticed an interesting trend – musicians are leaving Austin\, and somehow ending up here\, in sleepy\, little Brattleboro…\n\nYou’ll hear from 3 of them\, in this special Showcase.\n\nMichael Ray – settling into retirement\, traveling around the US\, spending time with his children\, and playing the guitar whenever and wherever he can! Not a bad life… And we’re lucky that one of those children lives in our area. Michael’s leans heavily into finger-style/claw-pick guitar\, playing “acoustic punk\, with country DNA”.\n\nJosh Allen – got his start as a singer/songwriter\, strumming an acoustic guitar. He spent much of the last two decades living and playing around Austin\, TX\, with his Whisky Brothers Band. He is Brattleboro’s most recent transplant from that very musical city\, having made the move in just the last couple months. His influences include Mississippi John Hurt\, Townes Van Zandt\, Bob Dylan\, and Tom Waits\, and his music – half poetry\, and half blues – is gritty and soulful.\n\nOur Sleeping Giant – is Danny Gibbons. Danny writes heartfelt stories set to melodic tunes that come from a deep & personal place. He hopes by sharing his stories & experiences through music to make connections and help others through their own personal struggles.

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple Artisits!!!
DESCRIPTION:Three great acts\, one fun evening! \nBoaz Vilozny & Jack Pombriant \nBoaz and Jack met in Brattleboro after moving to Vermont from opposite coasts. Both longtime musicians\, they bonded over a love of Simon and Garfunkel and began playing together regularly. They play their favorite pop songs and original tunes. \nJenny Burtis\, with John “Klondike” Koehler \nThe acoustic guitar is at the center of Jenny’s performance\, and her songs offer an honest look at life and loss\, with an eye toward irony\, humor and redemption. She weaves classical music influences into her songwriting\, favoring the Romantic tradition\, and has been influenced by a variety of singer songwriters including Jane Siberry\, Shawn Colvin\, and Olivia Chaney. Jenny will be performing with her bassist\, John “Klondike” Koehler. \nJim Stockwell \nJim is a singer. \nPlease like\, follow\, SHARE\, and ATTEND! And while you’re here\, SUBSCRIBE to our newsletter. \nThe Local Music Showcase happens every Thursday\, at Bar 580\, in the Vermont Marketplace\, just off I-91\, at exit 1. It starts at 6pm and there’s never a cover!

SUMMARY:Sunday Night Open Jam!
DESCRIPTION:This event happens every Sunday\, unless otherwise notified.\nIf you’d like more information\, contact Donald McCullough via text (8023803101) or email (brobertsock@gmail.com). \nHeld at a private home\, near downtown\, in Brattleboro\, this is a casual get-together for musicians of all stripes\, shapes\, sizes\, and ability levels.  Doors are open from 6 to 10pm. Don’t feel like you have to show up right at the start (though you can) or stay until the very end (though\, again\, you can). There will be music happening during those hours\, and you’re welcome to join in whenever you want\, and stay for as long as you like. Bring whatever you want\, gear-wise. Anybody who wants to ‘bring a song’ – preferably something fairly easy and well-known\, or a ‘hidden gem’\, that everybody can join into without much hesitation – feel free. There is also an “Open Jam Bible”\, with a lot of great songs – lyrics and chords. The more tunes\, the better… \nWe play. We hang out and ‘talk shop’. We exchange and listen to music. Whatever vibe the group wants to go with on any given Sunday\, is totally cool. This gathering is meant to be informal\, loose\, and fun. If you want to get involved\, call or text 802-380-3101\, or email brobertsock@gmail.com. Hope to see all of you soon!
