SUMMARY:Local Music SHOW - Ian Galipeau!
DESCRIPTION:Ian Galipeau is an indie-rock songwriter for hopeful cynics. He dwells in his craft to an obsessive degree\, weaving empathetic storytelling and careful wordplay into thought-provoking\, nuanced songs. His lyrics are where his obsession lies – he is not an artist who can just write a simple love song\, or a breakup song. He’s compelled (for better or worse) to use songs to explore something out-of-the-ordinary. Sometimes it’s a meditation on writers block\, or the nostalgia of parenthood\, or the perspective of a Ray Bradbury character… but there’s always some fragment of the unexpected. Musically he leans toward indie-rock\, drawing comparisons to Hozier and Ben Harper. Through the course of a set\, you’ll also hear strands of retro-pop and Americana that will keep you on your toes.\n\nIan is based in Keene\, NH. He’s been performing around New England since 2010\, and has shared the stage with the likes of Arc Iris\, Dietrich Strauss\, and Ian Fitzgerald. He released two sister-EPs\, titled “Raze/Raise”\, in March of 2018\, and followed with the full-length album\, “Like We Were Never Here At All”\, in September 2022.\n\nThe Local Music Showcase happens every Thursday\, at 6pm\, at Bar 580\, near I-91\, exit 1\, in Brattleboro.\nPlease LIKE\, FOLLOW\, and share\, Share SHARE our events! And ALWAYS remember to…\n\nSHOP LOCAL – Even for Your Music!

SUMMARY:Local Music Showcase - Multiple Artists!
DESCRIPTION:I’d tell you we have another great show for you\, but honestly\, they’re ALL great shows! We are so freakin’ lucky to have all this incredible talent living and working and sharing itself\, right here in our own neighborhood. Yeah\, I know you’re busy\, and life is full\, but be real…you can spare a couple hours to come out\, hang out in a real nice place\, with real nice people\, and listen to some really fantastic live music. I promise\, you’ll feel a whole lot better if you do! All that other crap can wait.\n\nThat said – this week:\n\nThe Frost Heaves & HaLes – is an eclectic indy-folk-rock band based in Greenfield\, MA. Singer/guitarist Daniel Hales and bassist James Lowe will play a stripped down set of originals from their 5 (soon to be 6) albums\, plus a few deep-cut covers. Daniel’s lyrics are often singled out for praise: “Hales artfully plays with the duality of words in the English language\, creating lyrics that are both smart and memorable” (Northeast Performer) “Lines pop out as though in 3D” (Daily Hampshire Gazette). www.thefrostheaves.com\n\nEd Thanhouser – the leader of Portland\, Oregon’s longtime alt-folk outfit Ed & The Red Reds has emerged from hibernation in Vermont. Ed’s songs are lovingly crafted chunks of modern Americana that weave between generations from Hank Williams to Wilco. With their carefully wrought lyricism\, wit and storytelling\, these are “red” songs that Ed describes as “the opposite of the blues\,” full of lust for meaning and connection amidst the anxieties of the modern world. Check ‘em out – free streaming and info at redreds.com\n\nPaul Martinez – having relocated to Brattleboro about a year ago\, from Austin\, TX – the self-proclaimed ‘live music capital of the world’ – Paul has played guitar and/or bass with outfits like Common Thread\, Tiny Livestock\, the Chelle Murrey Band. He is a reliable purveyor of blues-y\, southern-fried rock ‘n roll\, and has become one of the more sought-after collaborators in our incredible local music circuit. Everybody seems to want to get his infectious (you know\, in a good way) energy behind their own work\, and with good reason. His guitar work is awe-inspiring – my favorite word\, to describe it\, is “athletic”. If you haven’t seen him play yet\, you’ll want to come out for this. And if you have seen him play before\, you know you’ll want to come out and see him play again. He’ll be doing his solo-thing here\, playing a cool mix of covers and originals.\n\nThe Local Music Showcase happens every Thursday night\, at Bar 580\, in the Vermont Marketplace\, from 6 to 8pm. There’s never a cover\, so come out and SUPPORT the incredibly talented musicians living\, working\, and creating\, right in our own backyard\, and the local businesses that support them!\n\n“SHOP LOCAL – even for your music!”

SUMMARY:Showcase - Multiple Artists!
DESCRIPTION:This week the Local Music Showcase presents: \n\nDonald McCullough\nMidnight Betty\nOur Sleeping Giant\n\nDonald McCullough is the founder and guardian of the Local Music Showcase\, and a singer/songwriter-type himself\, so every once in a while he gives himself a slot and bashes out a few tunes. He’ll play a mix of ‘hidden gem’ covers\, and his own introspective originals. \nMidnight Betty is a relative newcomer to the Brattleboro music scene – a collaboration between Chelle Murrey (half of the local power duo\, “Chelle and Paul” and the leader of the “Chelle Murrey Band”) and Oriana Barros (half of the classic hits duo\, “Hazelnuts”). Their harmonies will leave you dumbfounded\, and always wanting more! \nOur Sleeping Giant is Danny Gibbons. Danny writes heartfelt stories set to melodic tunes that come from a deep & personal place. He hopes by sharing his stories & experiences through music to make connections and help others through their own personal struggles.
